Meet New Board Member Cindy Riddle


Cindy Riddle is an accomplished SC Arts Commission Verified Teaching Artist with a 28-year career shaping arts education in South Carolina. A former Assistant Superintendent of Visual and Performing Arts for Spartanburg School District One, Cindy now serves as the Grant and Community Partnership Coordinator for Polk County Schools and as an Arts Education Consultant at Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg. A recognized leader, she has served as President of South Carolina Arts Education Association and on the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Advisory Council. She is the recipient of the SC Art Education Association Thomas A. Hatfield Lifetime Achievement Award and the prestigious SC Governor’s Award for the Arts in Arts Education. Cindy is committed to fostering artistic growth for all ages, championing arts integration, and enhancing community arts programs. 


Cindy's influence in the field extends beyond the classroom and studio. She currently serves on various boards and nonprofit arts organizations, championing the cause of community arts partnerships. Her extensive experience as an integrated resource specialist is evident in her role on the screening committee for the South Carolina Teacher of the Year, South Carolina Department of Education Gifted and Talented grant evaluator, Governor’s Award Committee and her position as an adjunct professor at USC Upstate for Muse Machine’s Summer STEAM Institute. She remains an active professional artist whose work is featured in private collections.
